Feheley Fine Arts is pleased to present a solo exhibition of works by Montreal-based artist, Lyne Bastien, her first at the gallery. Born in Abitibi, a forest-rich region in western Quebec, Bastien’s affinity for nature began during her youth spent camping, hunting, and fishing in the wilderness near her home. In the 1990s, she moved to Montreal to complete a degree in printmaking at Concordia University. When Bastien moved to the Arctic community of Puvirnituq in 2014, it brought her back to her Abitibi roots, reinvigorating her appreciation for nature. The works in Dormance / Dormancy represent exactly this: a contemplation on the sense of quiet stillness of the North during winter, finding the beauty in its cool hues and the artist’s connections to home.
Feheley Fine Arts est heureux de présenter une exposition solo d'œuvres de l'artiste montréalaise Lyne Bastien, sa première à la galerie. Née en Abitibi, une région riche en forêts de l'ouest du Québec, l'affinité de Bastien pour la nature a commencé pendant sa jeunesse passée à camper, à chasser et à pêcher dans la nature près de chez elle. Dans les années 1990, elle s'installe à Montréal pour compléter un diplôme en gravure à l'Université Concordia. Lorsque Bastien est déménagée dans la communauté nordique de Puvirnituq en 2014, cela l'a ramenée à ses racines abitibiennes, revigorant son appréciation de la nature. Les œuvres de Dormance / Dormancy représentent exactement cela : une contemplation sur le sentiment d'immobilité tranquille du Nord pendant l'hiver, la découverte de la beauté dans ses teintes fraîches et les liens de l'artiste avec ses origines.
